Who is T. Kevin Wilson?
Unlike many lawyers who try to be "jack-of-all-trades" lawyers, Kevin's law practice is limited to the defense of those accused of DUI / DWI, Criminal, Reckless Driving and Serious Traffic Offenses. He continued to demonstrate his dedication to remaining on the cutting edge of DUI / DWI defense in Virginia by devoting the time, money and energy to regularly attend advanced national conferences specifically devoted to these issues. In DUI / DWI cases, two of the most persuasive pieces of evidence used at trial are the performance on field sobriety tests and the result of the breath or blood test. Thus, it seems obvious that you should insist that your DUI / DWI Defense lawyer at least be trained in both of these areas. Kevin completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) / International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) course on the proper administration of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests in 2004, and as part of his continuing effort to be at the forefront of DUI / DWI defense, he took the course again in 2007. In addition to being trained on the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, T. Kevin Wilson is trained as an Operator on both the Intoxilyzer 5000 breath testing machine – one of the only evidentiary breath test machines currently used in Virginia, as well as the S-D2, S-D5, 400 and the newer Intoxilyzer 8000. After attending several conferences in which breath alcohol testing machines were regularly “fooled”, failed to detect interferents, failed to detect disconnected parts, and gave breath alcohol readings as high as 0.04 when absolutely no ethanol was present, Kevin took the extraordinary step of purchasing his own breath test devices. He owns two Intoxilyzer 5000 machines and several preliminary breath test machines including the Alco-Sensor IV and Intoxilyzer S-D5 and he regularly uses these machines to demonstrate the fallibility of breath alcohol testing to anyone who will watch and listen. In addition to forming the cornerstone of a successful law practice, Kevin's advocacy, integrity and reputation led to him being employed as a Legal Instructor at the Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy for more than eleven years. In that capacity, Kevin taught Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law and Evidence to law enforcement recruits with the Prince William County Police Department, the Prince William County Sheriff's Department, the United States Marine Corps, as well as a few other agencies and departments. Lastly, in addition to establishing and growing his own law practice, and teaching cadets at the local criminal justice academy, Kevin has also served as a Special Prosecutor at the request of the Commonwealth's Attorney - an undisputable endorsement of his talent, intelligence and integrity by those in the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney.
